It is NEK’s Company Policy to comply with the National Electric and Safety Codes, as well as the specifications of the manufacturers of cable, equipment and systems within the telecommunications industry.
In general, NEK’s construction is overhead, placed on jointly used power poles. A NEK Broadband technician will determine, in the event that an aerial installation of a drop to the home is not possible, whether there is any existing conduit that can be used to install the fiber optic cable instead. If not, the customer will have to arrange and pay for underground installation. The underground installation (either by customer or contractor) will need to be coordinated with NEK Broadband.
If the customer decides to do the installation themselves or hire a contractor from our list of contractors willing to do underground installation, these conduit requirements and specifications must be followed.
If the customer decides to hire a contractor not on our list, there are instructions for the contractor to make sure it is done correctly and to code. Please have your contractor contact us at 802-434-9970.
