The Vermont Community Broadband Board (VCBB) has launched a new initiative to help Vermonters afford broadband connections. The Affordable Long Drop Program provides grants to eligible providers to cover the cost of long or nonstandard service drops, including underground installations.
If an aerial installation to your home is not possible, a technician from NEK Broadband will assess whether existing conduit can be used to install the fiber-optic cable. If no usable conduit is available, customers may apply for the Long Drop Grant to help cover the cost of installing underground conduit.
Underground fiber-to-the-home installation is available on a first-come, first-served basis. To help us efficiently plan construction once the ground thaws, interested customers will be added to the installation queue after completing the underground installation request process.
In order to be added to the queue please pre-register at nekbroadband.org and fill out the form below. Construction will begin as soon as the ground freezes and we will begin reaching out to schedule site visits in the coming weeks.
We encourage you to share this opportunity with your neighbors and friends and invite them to pre-register as well. Pre-registrations help us gauge interest across the region, which directly informs and strengthens our planning process.
